The seminar will explore this topic based on a newly published book with the same title: “Towards Action: Islamic Philanthropy for Social Justice in Indonesia.” This book draws from the case of Indonesia, the largest Muslim country in the world with a long history of Islamic charities. It discusses the development of Islamic philanthropy in Indonesia from the perspective of Social Justice Philanthropy. It queries the extent Social Justice Philanthropy has been practiced by Indonesian Muslim communities and investigates its challenges and its driving factors.
